Methamphetamines 'P'
Know as Speed, ‘P’, Pure, Burn, Goey, Crank, Meth, Ice, Yaba, Whiz, Crystal, Shabu, Go-Fast and others. P is a very strong psycho-stimulant and the results closely resemble those of Cocaine. Prolonged use of P can cause paranoia, obsessive behaviour, hostility and hallucinations.
Users often go on binges where they use P continuously for a number of days or even weeks, where they don’t sleep. This binge can cause the user to experience a state of panic or terror and this could in turn lead to paranoid psychoses. When this binge ends, the user will crash, resulting in a state of depression, severe headaches, insomnia and fatigue. This is because the dopamine receptors in the brain could be damaged.
Most of the P in NZ is locally made however it is so dangerous because of the fluctuating pureness of it. Meth is often contaminated at the production process in order for manufacturers to produce more.
P is one of the drugs that has crossed the socio-economic line and has recently been announced as a worldwide pandemic beings used by people from all walks of life, from business people to sportsmen to people living below the poverty line.
