Drug Abuse
Cannabis and Methamphetamines are the two drugs with the highest reported rate of abuse. It is because of the use of these two drugs, and their subsequent abuse, that drug testing in New Zealand has become common place both in the workplace as well as in the home. Drug awareness is only increasing as the war on drugs continue.
Workplace Drug Testing
Drug use costs companies and employers tens of thousands of dollars each year. Drug use by employees results in an increase of sick days, lateness, a decrease in productivity and general lack of work ethic. Understandably then, employers are not keen to have any of there employees using drugs. This is also the reason for an increase of drug testing in the workplace.
